It's that time of year again, time to celebrate moms--whoever that may be to you. Also includes, but not limited to, dog moms and cat moms. The older I've gotten the more time I've had to reflect on how truly awesome my Ma is. This post is dedicated to her to show some appreciation.
There is no real rule book on parenting and I think every mom does the best she can with what she knows. I'm the oldest in my family and despite the unexpected curveballs life would throw, my Ma was always there for me, supported me, and has always done the best she could, all while kicking ass. Even when the going got tough for our family, she never gave up on herself or her kids. My Ma works hard everyday, strives for better, and loves us without a doubt. I am grateful every day that she is my Ma and I don't know what I would do without her. We talk on the phone everyday and I'm so appreciative of the time we have together, even if it is just a phone call. My Ma is an absolute rock, she's been through some shit and come out the other side stronger, teaching me what she's learned. Because of the woman she is, I'm lucky to be the woman I am.
My Ma has taught me strength, resilience, how to be a boss ass lady, compassion, taught me to think for myself, be a leader, and honestly, I could go on for ages about her. Whether she knows it or not, she shaped me to be a feminist, to stand in the face of adversity, do what's right, and take challenges head on. I know she's going to read this later too, so I hope she doesn't tear up too much.
Basically, my Ma deserves this appreciation post because she is a kick ass lady and sometimes, I wonder how I got so lucky to be her daughter. After all, my Ma did give birth to a legend, aka me! How wonderful it is to know my Ma loves me as much as I love her.
Take time today to let the mom figure in your life know they're appreciated. Women do not get enough credit for everything they do and overcome while being mothers. So, thanks Ma, thanks for everything you've done for me. I love ya!
